The regulation of shrimp metabolism by the white spot syndrome virus (WSSV)

چکیده

For more than three decades, infectious diseases have been one of the major causes economic losses in global shrimp industry. One deadliest pathogens is white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), which mass mortality farmed shrimp. Various aspects WSSV pathogenicity studied, but this review, we will focus only on them, namely metabolic reprogramming. WSSV’s modulation host metabolism affects glycolysis, tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, glutaminolysis and lipid metabolism. Several signaling pathways are involved regulation, including JAK-STAT, PI3K-AKT-mTOR, MAPK Ras-Raf-MEK, with PI3K-Akt-mTOR pathway particular playing a critical role activating WSSV-induced Warburg effect. Taken together, these changes benefit by facilitating replication. In summarize current knowledge regarding metabolism-related pathogenesis, discuss mechanisms reprograms its host's pathways. A deeper understanding pathways, key enzymes potentially important for development effective anti-WSSV strategies.

Immunization of Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp against white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) by gamma-irradiated WSSV plus Vibrio paraheomolyticus

Introduction: White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is one of the most deadly infectious pathogens of the shrimp culture industry. Neither effective vaccines nor efficient treatments are currently available for this disease. Vibrio species are well known dominant bacterial pathogens in the shrimp ponds. As facultative pathogenic bacteria, it is possible that Vibrio spp. along with WSSV to co-infect ...

Identification of icp11, the most highly expressed gene of shrimp white spot syndrome virus (WSSV).

This study investigates white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) gene expression levels in the cells of 2 hosts (Penaeus monodon and Litopenaeus vannamei). Microarray and expressed sequence tag (EST) analysis of the mRNA profiles in WSSV-infected P. monodon cells were used to identify WSSV genes that were very highly expressed. Results showed that the mRNA of the WSSV icp11 gene consistently had the hi...
